24v cummins high idle8/22/2023 ![]() Anyone ever solder these before? Sorry so long. They run towards the eng block not the 2 that go between the fuel lines. I"m thinking cut the wires, put on some heat shrink tubing and solder the wires back together? I believe these 2 wires are for timing fuel on the pump. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cover the wires. When I touched the wires, the insulation fell off!!. I checked the two wires on the pump I had moved and noticed the outer covering on the wires deteriorated and cracked all over. What I did notice is that the truck idled at 950 rpm and it was smooth!!! No missing!? I let I run for about a min and shut it off. 107v while engine was running but when shutdown it went to 13v for a few seconds then voltage went away as it should. I proceeded to check the pins in the pump connector, voltages were good except pin 5 had a very slight. When I unplugged it I noticed 2 wires from the comp board on top were smashed in between the vp44 connector and the pump housing so I moved them up out of the way. I printed off the troubleshoot guide from bluechip diesel and proceeded. I accelerated to about 1800 rpm and let off and it was still fluctuating. I was watching rpm on scanner and it was fluctuating from around 920 to 990. Same results, went to 1k rpm, idle ran smooth for about 20 sec then started missing and cutting out. The ect was 60 deg and the Iat was reading 58.7 deg on cold startup. I recalibrated my timbo apps and started my truck. 030vac. Any ideas? What will make a cummins idle high? ecm? I just pull it out and turn it 90 degrees to lock it to set the idle speed. Truck runs out great as long as its accelerating but when you let off throttle you can hear it miss. I installed a locking T handle manual cable to my VE pump throttle hookup. when put in gear, it idles 900 rpm and smoothes out under load of trans while in gear. Idle stays at 1k and misses unless put in gear. Happened out of the blue while wife was driving. This is to allow the engine to warm up faster in low temps. Even has 3 cylinder high idle where it will shut off 3 cylinders which sounds like a rod is going to come through the side of the block. But, it has to meet a few temp parameters first to kick on by itself. It's in every ECM for the cummins even the autos. I've been getting 20 mpg 600 miles from a tank of fuel. ![]() It's got a Edge Juice w/attitude fuel/timing box that adds 120 hp and 350 torque on top of factory hp/tq. ![]()
